The Aga Khan Centre is a place for education, cultural exchange and insight into Muslim civilisations. It is home to three institutions founded by His Highness the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims, and houses the Aga Khan Foundation UK, The Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations and The Institute of Ismaili Studies.
The Garden of Light is one of the Centre’s six gardens, terraces and courtyards whose design has been influenced by different parts of the Islamic world.
The Aga Khan Centre was designed by Professor Fumihiko Maki and Garry Kamamoto of the Japanese firm Maki & Associates.
The Centre is home to the Aga Khan Library which includes a large collection of rare books and manuscripts from the Islamic world.
